This Mark IV A dates to the early years of production of this legendary amp and has seen some gigging but was primarily a studio amp in recent years, has been well cared for, and sounds AMAZING, as you would expect. 85 watts from 4 6L6 power tubes, through a single Mesa EV-branded Black Shadow 12 speaker. Incredibly versatile, capable of a ridiculous amount of tones suitable for any number of styles--blues, metal, country, punk, bluesmetalcountrypunk--whatever you want to throw at it! One of the best amps we've had in the shop in some time. Amp is in very good cosmetic condition, minor noticeable wear if anything.
All jacks, knobs and switches work and the amp sounds tremendous! Footswitch exhibits a little wear but no damage. Road case has a couple minor dings but is in overall very good condition as well.
Keeps the amp snug and protected! Thanks for looking and let us know if you have any questions!
The Mark IV was launched by Mesa/Boogie in 1990 as a three-channel amp - with independent controls for all three channels, except bass and mid, which are the same for both Rhythm 1 (clean) and Rhythm 2 (crunch). The "crunch" channel is designed for use by hard rock and heavy metal rhythm guitarists. There were two versions of this amp. Mark IVs built from the start of production until about September 1993 are referred to as version A; amplifiers made from late 1993 until the end of production in 2008 are known as version B. Early Bs have an attached power cord, like the A version. Some differences: version A has no footswitch for reverb or stereo effects loop, and the lead channel is much like the Mark IIC+s. Version B has switchable reverb, a single switchable stereo effects loop, and an output to drive another power amp. Its voicings are altered slightly. Both versions are highly regarded; production of the Mark IV ceased in 2008 after an 18 year production run.
The Mark IV A models have two Series, Mono Effects Loops (NORMAL and SWITCHABLE). The Loop Labelled NORMAL stays on all the time while the SWITCHABLE LOOP is switched in and out of the circuit by either the footswitch, the programming rocker switches or the external jacks (when the Mark IV is being controlled by a MIDI switcher). If the SWITCHABLE LOOP is turned on by the rockers or external jack, the footswitch cannot turn it back off. Two rocker switches are provided so you can pre-set the Loop to come on in conjunction with any one or two modes. Serial Numbers: IV-0001 to Approx.
Two Series, Mono Effects Loops (Normal And Switchable). 12AT7 in the reverb tube slot (V4).
No reverb foot switch on the back. Older style Bronco Vinyl and LED's. Smaller power transformer than the Mark IV B.
